Railroad service: Two main lines of Long Island Rail Road run in east-west direction through Town. Electrified service from Ronkonkoma.
Freight Carrier: Several dozen carriers serving Longing Island - New York Metropolitan Area.
Air Service: Nearest Airport - Long Island MacArthur Airport - located in northeastern section of Town. The airport’s facilities include twoinstrument landing systems, a control tower and four runways. The airport services direct flights throughout the Northeast and Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Las Vegas, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa, West Palm Beach. In addition to the non-stop destination, there are connecting flights to 121 domestic and international cities.
Bus Service: Within Suffolk County are ten private and three municipal bus operators. Service is available along most corridors in the Town. Connection service available for interstate travel.
Waterways: Nearest navigable waterway: Great South Bay along southern coast of Town. Commercial utilization primarily by clamming industry. Excellent recreational opportunities. Port facility: Port Jefferson on north shore of Suffolk County (incl. 23' channel depth. Ferry service: Bay Shore and Sayville to various points of Fire Island.
