Newest Dining Option Expands Character of Food Offered at Region's Only Commercial Airport Stating that "this administration has made the continued strengthening of Long Island MacArthur Airport's visitor amenities a top priority," Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan joined representatives from HMS Host and Phillips Seafood Restaurants to officially open their newest location on the Southwest Concourse of Long Island MacArthur Airport. The opening marks a significant expansion of the character and choice of food offered airline passengers using the region's only commercial airport.
Pointing out that Phillips Seafood started as a small crab company along Maryland's Chesapeake Bay around the turn of the 20th century, Nolan called the restaurant "a great fit for Long Island MacArthur Airport, which is located just a mile from another bay, the Great South Bay." "Travelers coming to the airport from around this coastal community will feel right at home at this restaurant, which extends the great seafood dining experience that characterizes the South Shore," said Nolan.
Phillips operates restaurants with HMS Host at five airports located in Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Norfolk, and Savannah. "We are proud that MacArthur is the newest airport on that short, but impressive list," said Nolan. "As the Town continues to add amenities to improve the travel experience for our customers," said Nolan, "the airport's importance as a regional transportation hub continues to grow." In 2007, the airport welcomed more than 2.3 million travelers, more than any other mid-size airport in the Unites States.
The restaurant offers a classic American seafood menu in a sophisticated setting. In addition to Phillips famous lump crab cakes and selection of fish such as Mahi-Mahi and Tuna, the restaurant, which accommodates 60 guests, also offers a full bar. The restaurant opens daily at 10 a.m. for lunch and dinner.
