Virginia E. Allen, Receiver of Taxes
Virginia Allen, a resident of Oakdale, was elected Receiver of Taxes for the Town of
Islip in 1993, and is currently serving her third four-year term of office. The duties of the Tax
Receiver include administering, supervising and processing the collection of property taxes for
school districts, county, town and other taxing jurisdictions, as authorized by the tax warrant,
and in accordance with the provisions of New York State Real Property Law and the Suffolk
County Tax Act.
Prior to serving Islip residents as Receiver of Taxes, Ms. Allen was Deputy Receiver of
Taxes for four years. Before that, she worked for the County of Suffolk as a Consumer Affairs
Investigator, a Legislative Aide, an Assistant to the County Executive, and an Assets Analyst for
the Department of Social Services.
Her affiliations include the New York State Association of Tax Receivers and Collectors,
Suffolk County Tax Receivers Association, the Salvation Army Suffolk County Advisory Board
Member, Sayville Village Improvement Society and Honorary Member of the Pilot Club of
Sayville.
